Science, music and art
At public elementary schools children only ever come into contact with natural sciences through general studies (Sachkunde). There, however, the science approach is often very limited, even though children show a natural curiosity for such things and phenomena. Here again, the PbG takes a pioneering approach, integrating natural sciences into the curriculum and the interdisciplinary teaching and learning concepts earlier and more thoroughly than is normally the case with general studies.
The scope of science taught at the PbG is primarily guided by the children’s realm of experience as well as their questions. Children always have questions, as their curiosity is virtually boundless. In order to encourage this curiosity, we integrate science content and scientific approaches as early as possible into the children’s education. At the PbG, children can experience and explore scientific phenomena from a very early age.
Along with science, music and art are also integral parts of our interdisciplinary concept. Creativity is required in all these fields, for example in finding answers and ways to solve problems. Artistic creativity in particular can develop and flourish at the PbG, as it is firmly integrated in the teaching and learning concepts.
