Structure of a typical school day
The PbG is an all-day school with mandatory lesson times for all students. A typical school day begins – after the flexible arrival period between 7.45-8.30 a.m., during which the students occupy themselves – with a morning assembly, shared breakfast and some short physical activities. This first hour is considered a part of lessons and emphasizes social learning through talking and sharing with each other. The time from 9.30 a.m. till 12 noon is dedicated to teaching.
After a shared lunch and a relaxation phase till 1.30 p.m., the second 2.5-hour block of lessons (including breaks) follows; physical education elements are included in this block. The children can be collected from school between 4.00 and 4.30 p.m., after which the children have free time, since there is no homework at the PbG. Free time is family time.
