Year overlapping Classes

At PbG learning happens in mixed age groups. This means that two classes are combined into one (e.g. class 1/2 as one but also 2/3 or 3/4). Preschool students can be integrated into grade one, or class 1/2, if all prerequisites are met.

What are the advantages of mixed aged groups?

Every child learns at a different pace. This pace can even vary between subjects. Mixing age groups has the advantage that younger students have the possibility to learn from older students, whereas the older students learn what it means to be a role model and can develop their social skills. The social skill, often also referred to as soft skills, encompass the ability to work in a team, communication skills and the ability to deal with conflicts. It is important to acquire theses skills as early as possible in order to master them eventually.
